AnimalsA Poem by KayleenThis is a little sonnet about monogamous animals.I’d think your tail was hot if we were beavers. We would gather sticks and mud from the waters and build a huge beaver lodge in the river for all of our beaver sons and daughters. If we were prairie voles, we’d dig through the ground. We’d teach our pups to eat grasses and seeds. And if a fox came to eat us, we wouldn’t be found, deep down in a tunnel, fulfilling our vole needs. I hope, if we were black vultures, that you would flap your wings and bob your head at me. Because I’d pick you, and we’d screw, however birds do. And in a nest, we’d spit up food for our babies. But we’re humans, not animals. So none of that’s actually practical. © 2012 Kayleen |
