Blind in WonderlandA Poem by kaylaThis is a poem I wrote while in an abusive relationship. The dreams that never did come true, twist and deviate into what we thought could never happen, sink into a fantasy land, bathe in thr fke reality, unlikely hopes, crushed dreams, a plastered smile not even fit for a plastic Barbie, and all of a sudden life is wonderland [mixed with denial, desperate hope, and far too many narcotics] because we are young and reckless, restless and desperate, desperate for love, comfort, a new life, for everything to just be okay again. Too desperate to realize that this fantasy will never work out, rationalizing to stay positive, to stay alive [even though we are already dead] All along our dreams rust, crumble into cigarette ashes, dormant in the tray we stole from the last motel, 21st century gypsies with new lies and new lives, slate wiped clean but the truth still in our eyes. Days [years] walking through a fantasy, seeing a mirage in the desert when we're still in the same death valley we've been in our whole lives, we're really swallowing dirt and stand, still playing, make-believe; this is Wonderland. © 2012 kaylaReviews
