These Eyes

These Eyes

A Poem by kayla

These eyes have seen things

that others have not.

These eyes have remembered

what others forgot.

These eyes have seen black nights

and shooting stars.

These eyes have seen loved ones die

and others bleed and scar.

These eyes have experienced pain

that others couldn't comprehend.

These eyes could tell stories

that have no end.

These eyes have seen bodies

bleeding and hurt.

These eyes have seen good Samaritans

collapse in the dirt.

These eyes have seen love

fall apart into pain.

But these eyes are making a difference;

will no longer struggle in vain.

I got inspiration for this poem after watching a movie about Waris Dirie and all that she went through (and many other girls and women) in Africa. Please let me know what you think (:

Experiences are indeed painful, and I could not have said this better myself. Though I have one problem, the flow seems... how to put, disrupted every now and then. It transfers from short lines to long ones at time, and it is quite a nuisance when reading this aloud. Nonetheless, you've crafted a fine poem with a interesting concept.
