Captured By Her MindA Poem by taboo.poetprose about a teen girl who's suffered domestic abuse, and feels she has no one to talk to about itShe's a young girl captured by her mind,
feeling alone and desolate inside. She wants help and he gives her what he can. He always reaches out a helping hand. But what if it's not enough to bridge the gap? The gap of all the wreckage in her past. She wants to tell him bit it'd only make him mad. What will she do if she can't get herself back? She remembers the times, clear as day. It feels like she can't speak, has He wants to listen, but she's not willing. Why is she so afraid, is the fear and pain so thrilling? Love should be built on trust, and she trusts him, doesn't she? But she doesn't know what to say, what a tragedy. Nobody wanted to hear about it before, so why is he so different? She's captured by her mind, will she ever be forgiven? Her mother is a vault who won't let her speak. So many things to say, but flown away in rustles like leaves. She wants to talk about the past, but she is so afraid. Nobody ever wants to hear about those fateful days. She feels she brought it upon herself and that her mom will agree. Any other thought would seem straight blasphemy. So she is yet again capture by her mind, feeling alone and desolate inside. Why is she prone to such dark silence? Why does she bring upon herself such violence? She really should just let the pain out. She should be allowed to scream and cry and shout. She wonders why society is oh so silent on pain and abuse and domestic violence. People get uncomfortable when she speaks of such things, but how else will she ever be set free? How will she live on after such destruction? Others make guesses, wonders, assumptions... But she knows the truth, hidden in heart. So now her heart has turned painful and dark. She rehearses what to say when people ask, when they decide to inquire about her past. But it's a practice in vain because they never do. They leave the darkness and memories in you. She knows her boyfriend cares and wants to hear. He wants her to heal and let out her fears. But what about mom and dad, they don't ask. They must consider it such a chore, a task. They must not understand what it's like to live it, to go on with the thoughts and memories that go with it. She is held captive inside her mind, frozen in the sands of time. She feels alone, she feels scared. She only knows of one that cares. © 2012 taboo.poetAuthor's Note
