"ANGELS FLY FREE"

"ANGELS FLY FREE"

A Poem by Kenny L. Mitchell

“ANGELS FLY FREE”

Celestial lights are calling

From dark forbidden skies

But I only taste tears

Fallen from my eyes

Why do things we love

Always seem to fade away?

And why is it darkest

Before the break of day?

It is not my place

To question mercy & love

But my mind asks question

To my heavenly father above

Why must you take

Those so close to me?

And why should I care

If it’s only meant to be?

As I lay my head down

To a much weary sleep

My father gave me comfort

And then my soul release

He spoke as from a mountain

And my soul was far below

He said don’t worry child

For I will never let you go

My earth is a garden

That I harvest every day

The love I feel for you

Goes beyond words I say

My flowers I must harvest

When they reach perfection

And only the most beautiful

Are for my heavenly selection

I felt his warm embrace

And such undeniable elation

I woke the next day

With such joy & jubilation

I will always miss those

That have gone before

But I will see them soon

When I reach the heavenly shore

What a joyful time

As I reach that other place

Where I will see my mother

With a smile upon her face

Until the end of time

I will always long to be

Where my family is at peace

And where angels fly so free

You ask age-old questions, the kind that perplex us all, and then provide the answers, the only answers we know, at least. Very nice writing with a message of hope.

What a stunning word... so beautiful and full of light... Even in the night, there is a sense of hope that rises, to find that place of the angels. Stunning...

Much emotion, great work. I like your poetic style, and I can feel the love you had for the individual you dedicated this work to. Nice job.

What a beautiful tribute you have written, Kenny..
In the darkest of night the pain seems at it's worse. But with the dawn of a new day the Creator sends his light to help one heal.

This is very touching and beautiful..
