"Meticulous Articulation"A Poem by Kenny L. Mitchell“Meticulous Articulation” (Finale On The Grand Stage)
The words are difficult (now) Where once they flowed They are now painstakingly Lethargic
What was once sweet The loving taste of myrrh Has turned bitter and rancid The repugnant stench of death
The divine eloquence dictates What imbrues itself instantly The delicate ink written Upon bright satin parchment
To pontificate upon soliloquies Bequeaths the most common façade The truth requires unmitigated courage
As my hair has faded Into the silver strands of fate I require more jaded words Less of myself to expose
What was once crisp Is now regulated to silence A divine comedy of errors That falls before the final curtain
As I bow to the endless (applause) I fall before the inevitable tears As roses are thrown At my travel weary feet
I taste the bittersweet memory Of what I can no longer be The beautiful past mistakes The sum of my mere existence
The crystal clear longing Of a hundred thousand angels Quietly define my reality
Come gentle words of mine Lay with me in this place Where the beauty of simplicity Is merely a sweet kiss away
