"Beautiful Echoes"

"Beautiful Echoes"

A Poem by Kenny L. Mitchell

"Beautiful Echoes"

And when this world

Asks too much of me

(their love is my solace)

3 delicate sublime angels

who represent the purest love

simply signifying the best

(of our ourselves)

my eldest little soldier

so strong yet so young

I see the exemplary man

he is destined to become

(reflected in his eyes)

my eldest little princess

is such a true lady

with each day ensued

she reflects the beautiful (butterfly)

transforming before my eyes

each time she disagrees

with my own preconceptions

I hear the echoes

of my own sweet yesterdays

my heart always smiles

as she looks in the mirror

wondering if she is as pretty

as her father always says

my youngest little darling

is the sweetest chaos

(personified)

finding new avenues (of mischief)

as yet to be discovered

from sunrise to nightfall

she tests the limits of gravity

(and sometimes patience)

constantly she runs as if

her world were on fire

but the sweetest of times

she crawls in my lap

while Brahms is playing

(his delicate lullaby)

my tears fall

like sweet Apri rain

as she looks up

and simply says

"I love you mommy"

these beautiful sweet echoes

are my sonnet of solace

the delicate disposition

that gives me strength

and the courage to fly

until the stars fall

from the heavenly (constellations)

they will always be

the bright beautiful rainbow

against my painted blue sky

What a beautiful, heartfelt write! You paint such a wonderfully vivid picture with your words. It flows so nicely and overflows with your love. A very enjoyable read. It is obvious that you are a dedicated and loving father and wonderful role model for your children. Thanks for sharing this special poem.

This is wonderful. I hear the emotions and admiration in your words. Children are gifts sent to teach us the pure simplicity of love and patience.

Let me find out you know my kids. lol That little one is the ring leader. This is a work of art like no other. The purest love there is in life is the love from a child and the love from a pet. Both are unconditional and able to brighten the darkest of day. I love this piece and when you get your book published sir........I want an autographed copy.

Great write from an awesome poet. I enjoyed this so much. I am waiting to be blessed to write a poem about my heart my son who is 5. I am not going to force it I am going to let it flow as you have done. I look forward to reading more of your work.

This is a sweet tribute to the joys of both childhood and parenthood, Kenny. So that I might understand it better, can you explain the significance of the parenthetical words and phrases?
Apart from the missing "t" at "nightfall', I find no flaw here! It is gentle, wistful, straightfrom the heart; an important work for every parent, and eventually every child to read. Thank you!

This is lovely. :-) But I feel like the exclamation point (the only one in the poem) shouldn't be there. I felt like it kind of disturbed the "flow." Otherwise, nicely done! If I were you, I would frame it for each of your children for when they are older! :-D

Breathless/heart is pouring with so much love and delightful tears! This is the best poem I have ever read. You truly are a wonderful writer! Your words epitomize these three beautiful children. From the Brahams to the eldest son, to the mini me...beautiful! Tears cannot stop rolling from my eyes. This poem is simply BEAUTIFUL! Excellent read! This is one to be hung.
