"Misplaced Muse"

"Misplaced Muse"

A Poem by Kenny L. Mitchell

"Misplaced Muse"

There is a delicate balance

Between what we wish to be

And what is destined to occur

She was the perfect inspiration

My Godess of Eternal Light

Whose euphoric ethusiasm

Fell upon me like virgin snow

As the gentle days fell into nights

A dark harbinger tore at my heart

Leaving my esoteric emotions

Strown like disregarded toys

And my sweet muse suffered

Not knowing how to correct my misgivings

Only seeing her once cherished friend

Suffer the silent misery of yesterday

In time after the winter's ice thaw

The exquisite possibilities of tomorrow

Healed a once shattered heart

Becoming once more

My unjaded and jovial self

But my beautiful muse had sailed

To a land of long sought understanding

Far from those who stain her beauty

With the macabre essence of egocentricity

Upon occasion  I wishsper her name

Allowing myself the guilty pleasure

Of remembering the sheer appreciation

And unbridled friendship we shared

My words are now my penance

And end result to my foolish pride

Relying upon her distant memory

I once again cling to her "pretty wings"

And long for the soulful sonnets

That  fell from her beatiful repose
