"Dreaming Of A Purple Walrus"A Poem by Kenny L. Mitchell"Dreaming Of A Purple Walrus"
As I snort the cosmic coke I dream of oozing sweet acid That falls as sinful temptation From the cracked dragon's pipe
Let the moon reflect purple light Coaxing me from a wreched reality Where dreams are juxtaposed With the sheer arrogance of supposition
The injection of bittersweet sorrow Follows the ecstasy of urban lust Baptizing me in celestial crescendo
Fireflies whisper somber soliloquies That gently spill from my ear The hackneyed disposition Of those who would illegalize (the truth)
The brown fetish of my first love (MaryJane) Has lent herself to the slacker pose The faith(less) prodigy of indignation
The egalitarian elite are now regulated To dispensing the urban mythology of lies The price of oil crunched into a conspiracy (theory)
As I swim purple skies And climb the deepest ocean I feel a transient truth exposed Kissing me as an elegant muse
What was once the mirthless sound The beaten hooves of the pale rider Now fade into the perpetual darkness Of my medicinal, yet potent soundtrack
The stars above drip like wax Falling upon my wreteched brow
In response I scream silently As the cold wave of reality Grips my somber syntax
The sheer ludacris audacity Of sublime sobriety Washes over me like a toxic wave
