"family reunion"

A Poem by Kenny L. Mitchell

FAMILY FIRST

When my heart is weary

I bend my knees in prayer

And like my blessed savior

My loving family is always there

When my soul was weary

And my heart felt all alone

They opened up their arms

And welcomed me back home

The world that we live in

Is filled with sorrow and regret

But my family gives me comfort

And a joy I can not forget

From the youngest of our children

To the eldest old and gray

Their love is unconditional

Bringing sunshine to my day

Our family is a miracle

I was blessed to discover

Different souls, hearts and mind

Who have always loved one another

No matter what our differences

Or how much we will disagree

The thing we always remember

Is that we are always a family

Let our hearts be united

On this very special occasion

Praise God for all we have

In times of union and celebration

Let God guide your footsteps

He’ll lead you through the worst

I never fear what tomorrow brings

Because my family loves me first

The beauty of family and their gathering was summed up so beautifully in this piece. I appreciate the point that you made about no matter differences and disagreements....we are still family. Never should we allow anything to come between that. Good job!

This is one of the most beautiful writes that I have ever read!

It's so very well expressed and full of ginuwine love and admiration for God and family. I loved every single line! I'm sure this was a big hit at your family reunion and will be for many years to come.
