"beliefs"

"beliefs"

A Poem by Kenny L. Mitchell

“BELIEFS”

I always believe that life

Is exactly what you make

I believe in second chances

And to learn from my mistakes

I believe that children

Reminds us who we are

I believe that dreams come true

When you wish upon a star

The true gift of laughter

Is better when we share

And despite what others think

Tomorrow will still be there

I believe that romance

Is still far from dead

And who we really are

Is more than what we’ve said

I believe that religion

Is more than chants and songs

And in the arms of my family

Is right where I belong

Despite the daily news report

War is not a common thing

I know there is something sacred

In the bond of wedding rings

I know despite our differences

There’s nothing worse than hate

I know looking at my son

There’s something we call fate

I know that my beliefs

Are just my point of view

I believe with faith in God

My dreams will still come true
