"so high"

"so high"

A Poem by Kenny L. Mitchell

‘SO HIGH”

His eye’s on the sparrow

A wondrous friend is he

Where God leads my steps

Is where I will long to be

He has granted my wish

And let my spirit soar

To fly above the mountains

Beyond the eastern shore

I never felt so happy

And my soul feels at ease

As I lift my silken wings

Against the gentle breeze

I learned so long ago

To cast my cares aside

Discovering that true love

Always comes from deep inside

The birds in the trees

Sing the happiest of songs

And just like the sparrow

In the sky is where I belong

In the place called heaven

Streets are paved with gold

But here on this earth

I have my family to hold

No words can truly describe

The joy my family brings

They’re my constant inspiration
And the wind beneath my wings

I can hear my spirit sing

Each time I kiss the sky

With the love of my family

My heart will lift so high
