"constant grace"

"constant grace"

A Poem by Kenny L. Mitchell

“constant grace”

Even as we argue amongst the summer winds

Even as the dark ebon strands of hair grow

Somberly gray

Even amongst the uncommon passion

She unconsciously inspires

Despite the fact I will never know the blessing

Of her sweetest kiss

She mesmerizes me with

Her uncommon

Yet constant grace

Leading me to

Happily ever after

Beyond the cavernous lies

And mountains of unspoken truths

The eloquent words of sheer bliss

Cascade against my protruding desires

The sheer simplistic melancholy

Haunts me in the twilight of my soul

A trickle of perspiration gleams

In the pale moonlight

And with the blink of an eye

She leaves me holding this burden

Of unspoken promises and unrealized dreams

And once again with the unbridled revelation

That I am once again hers for the taking

A promise that goes unspoken, unbridled

And shimmering against the lonely surface

A ribbon(less) sky that rains acid

And fecund tears against

The ruined chalice of my broken heart
