African Dreams

African Dreams

A Poem by Kenny L. Mitchell

"AFRICAN DREAMS"

As I dream of Africa

My spirit does rejoice

In terms of happiness

It is my only choice

White sand beaches

Ocean shades of blue

Such tranquil beauty

Speak to a heart so true

The pride of my people

Runs eternal & so deep

History of my descendants

Such love makes me weep

Rich colors and textures

Always make me smile

Answer to life’s questions

Across the shimmering Nile

A world unto itself

A paradise so revealed

Wealth is not a treasure

But acting what we feel

A homeland majestic

Lift our voice in song

In the arms of Africa

Is right where I belong

I cherish you Africa

Loved before others

A land rich in name

With mysteries to discover

I dream of Africa

And it speaks to me

In the arms of Africa

Is where I long to be
