industrious ant

industrious ant

A Poem by Kenny L. Mitchell

"industrious ant"

The Machiavelian cycle of perpetuity

Guides my jaded feet beyond my safe harbor

A manic state driven by a sheer desire to exist

Beyond this earthly plane of carnal desires

My inner ear feasts upon rampant lies and subtext

Juxtaposed against my moral ambiguity & lackadasical propensity

Streaking past the sorrows of yesterday

My shattered consciousness seeks a common thread

Woven against the banality of this urban tapestry

The marching feet of shock troops

Lead me into the ethereal darkness

Slipping beyond the veil of morality

The sliver of a toxic needle

Sends a cold rush into my orchestrated veins

Once again a faceless name in the crowd

My inner mystery echoes the decadence

The sublime misery that stems

(from deep within)
