awkaening

awkaening

A Poem by Kenny L. Mitchell

"awakening"

what once

was

can

never

be

shattered

china

falls

against

a shimmering

floor

fragments

are all

that

remain

no longer

tethered

to

unblemished

vows

fecund

tears

wash

away

my battered

soul

the painful

lies

of yesterday

disappear

with

the dawning

of the

sun

beyond

the pale

moonlight

and fading

stars

my heart

dreams

the sheer

eloquence

of you
