butterflies

butterflies

A Poem by Kenny L. Mitchell

"Butterflies"

Butterfly kisses

Land on soft skin

Melodies of perfection

Like leaves on the wind

Snowflakes of winter

Fall silently at night

Prayers fallen from lips

Black angels in flight

Each breath is hesitant

Dependent on the next

Thoughts race like silver

Because the heart is complex

Echoes of you

Haunt my inner me

Fantasies crash against

The rocks of reality

A dark mystical moon

Shimmers against the Nile

The answers to life

Lies just beneath her smile

 A tropical oasis

A dream just for two

A mirage in the desert

A certain point of view

One single candle

Dismisses eternal night

The shadows of misery

Are chased by the light

Until the time

When love is no more

I'll wait for you

By the western shore

Down by the lake

Where the butterflies land

I'll sit by the water

With my heart in my hand
