WE MAY NOT HAVE THE STRENGTH AFTERALL

WE MAY NOT HAVE THE STRENGTH AFTERALL

A Poem by kmartell

you and I friend...

there are no others.

all

that we imagine to be

is loss and  finding, to

see leaves and trees is a negation.

"trees nudge the breeze"  "flags wave, creating the wind"

what else is there here?   you and I?

we are the world

this window, this kitchen, this supper... to add others is to complicate

the infinite.

I sat here a few minutes pondering your words, K."flags wave, creating the wind." I love that feeling of space that is created when two people can sit and communicate without words that which is wordless; when the space encompasses its extensions and others would merely indeed be a distraction. Your words make me wonder, "do our small flags create the wind for each other, as writers sharing a space, sometimes?"

Sometimes the world is not what we think it is. The trees and flags create the wind, and we are infinite, we are the world. This is brilliant!

this is why i love poetry. every once in a while i find a poem or phrase that simply resonates something inside me. for me, your last thought here is one of those phrases that makes reading worth while.
"to add others is to complicate the infinite"
