childhood manic depression

childhood manic depression

A Poem by kmartell

i reek of self exposure
blind
being seen in a hallway

running
just to gain seclusion
from myself

voice of the dark
hump hump hump to

the center of it in my room
my brothers kid underwear

not my room

nothing has become mine earlier i
try to touch something

black

no
i don't i cannot i am under a bed

I broke the bedroom door I
punched plaster smelled it
took the door off screamed pulled

it upon myself to lie curled under this bed

later the memory says
i eat a giant red onion for penance

this is difficult to read but has the ring of truth in it from what i know of the disease...the onion, a nice touch with some sad humour laced there
