A Poem by kmartell

they

started to charge for birds twelve copecks
and you got a free automobile
two more and someone would sing you a song
while you lay in bed

or they

would try to sell you peeks
at the moon
it started as just a fad

but soon everyone was doing it
it was on all the networks
it was on facebook

deary they would say
(through the wifi)
ghosty-like

if you just eat this plastic spoon
with jello on it
we will get you a free
coupon

for twenty five big macs
we will sell you a vacuume cleaner too and even
throw in
your

life such
as it has become.

it's a succinct commentary on today's culture. we're buying what they're selling and that's all there is to it. what are you gonna do? insightful poem.

There is no logic in this culture of consumers. I really like this poem, it makes fun of this silly society we live in...I wish I could walk away from it, especially at this time of year when so many have gone mad with a shopping frenzy.

i like the back-asswards logic in this, the nonsensical chatter of the airwaves of consumerism and the reflection on what is makes of us
