stepping off the curb...A Poem by kmartell
turning off all power of thought
disparaging of meaning itself stood he, at the corner of main and fruit-what? having no other thought but that of she whom Southwright had previous been conversationally engaged had previously found hamstrung and given over to the south moving sun at the cold edge of the skies mirror and atuned to the usual banter... had then thus spoken the one single broken flower, a pane of the thoughts eye a word or two, from her, from her!, his left or was it his right foot jarring down off of the curb... she whom his dangling body above the very street had suddenly felt and left with, effused with "a certain lightness" a gamboling lift of all things simultaneously as though earth and automobiles and a sudden dog and a man sweeping the street were present most beautifully ...given to Southwright by this chance meeting of a young woman on his sunstrewn street © 2011 kmartellReviews
