Do You Believe

Do You Believe

A Poem by Kerri Maniscalco

Do you believe in the words you speak

Do you treasure the secrets you keep

Can you imagine a time

Where words would not destroy

And my dollar wasn’t worth a dime

Cause I’m tired of waiting in line

Trying to cash my check

When the money well runs dry

Who can you turn to, who’s gonna be your alibi

Reading the newspaper again

Nothing to report but sadness and sin

Good deeds lie in the crypt

While the devil does his best at writing the script

Cause I’m tired of waiting in line

Trying to cash my check

When the money well runs dry

Who can you turn to, who’s going to be your alibi

This country has taken the red and the white

but I kept the blue

Trying to find a job

Ain’t easy to do

Good flow. Metered well. Over all the fluidity of the piece is good.
I like it, it is one of those pieces you come back to for reference. Kudos but now I have the Cher song is my head! lol
