Last Lullaby

Last Lullaby

A Poem by Kerri Maniscalco

Once I thought I needed you, Now I know I need me too

Cause there’s only so much I can do, Only so many times I can try

Singing the blues and drying the tears I’ve cried

Only so many times I can try, only so many tears left to cry

Here’s your last lullaby, the only song left about you and I

Here’s your last song after all you did wrong

Once I thought you needed me, Now I know I need me too

Giving all I had, pushing aside all that was bad

I have found solace smoking my menthol cigarette

Finding myself before there was nothing left

Here’s your last lullaby, the only song left about you and I

Here’s your last song after all we did wrong

Once I thought you were the one, Now I know I wasn’t the only one

Cause there is only so much that I can do, Only so many times I can try

When your heart is untrue, and I’m tired of the tears I’ve cried

Cause there’s only so many times I can try, only so many tears left to cry

Here’s your last lullaby, the only song left about you and I

Here’s your last song after all you did me wrong
