Words Float Like Summer

Words Float Like Summer

A Poem by Kerri Maniscalco

Words float along the paper

Like a mellow river winding down

The mountain of a lazy summer day

Clouds sprinkle the sky

Blue as the ocean

With the heaviness of hell

Winds whisper gently

Moving along the river swells

Words soaring high

Like a bird flying

Across the summer sky

Caught in a curious daze

Sprawling along the grass

While the air is a heavy haze

Words melting in the sun

Like a hot fudge sundae

Such summer fun
