Memory Lane

Memory Lane

A Poem by Kerri Maniscalco

The sign reads danger ahead

So I hit the gas

Figuring things can’t get any worse

Then the years that have gone past

I hit the old dirt road

Somewhere deep in the country

Waiting on the red white and blue

Traveling down the road

I’m hit with memories of you

The sign reads danger ahead

But it’s the danger within

As the needle on the odometer hit’s the sky

I’m thinking I’m better off dead

Cause I’ve been travelin down this road for a while

Wishing on the highway

Getting lost in time

While I travel down memory lane

The miles I may drive between us

But it’s not a safe distance

No country traveled can escape

The ghost of your existence

While I travel down memory lane

when the memories that haunt us fade , the memories of beauty remain , travel that lane gorgeous and get the hurtful memories out of your system because i for one am eager to read a happy memory .
brilliantly written ,

I think I know the exact stretch of road you are talking about- isn't about halfway between Desperado and Folly's Corners, somewhere in the Heartland region?
