Leaving

Leaving

A Poem by Kerri Maniscalco

Leaving the lights of the city behind

I pack my bags and hit the road

It’s so pretty in all it’s glory

But today I’m writing the script

And I’m leading the story

Took all I could from this city

It even took pieces of me

Left my heart somewhere in between

The memories and a dream

Cause I’ve got a heart that yearns to beat free

And this city I’ve left

Ain’t all it’s cracked up to be

Taking my memories in my picture book

Leaving behind the lies

Of the beggars and  crooks

Cause I’m leaving the lights of the city behind

Searching for greener pastures I know I can find

This is a good lyric. I know you like Janis so I could hear her voice and style here. Good work.

A very warm piece of poetry perhaps evoking memories of old which won't play too much of a part in what lies ahead down that open road to pastures new.
When you have lived in a place you find it absorbs you and your thoughts like a sponge, you become part of it's influence shaping yourself within the metropolis.
One needs a back as tough as a rhino andf to be totally unsckockable in these lewd times of passion and sadism.
Love inspires us to feel magical and tranquilty is restored as we breathe in new air from the stale smell of rotting life in to green and pleasant landscape where still waters run deep and the flow of water acts like a therapeutic inspiration.
