Ocean of Love

Ocean of Love

A Poem by Kerri Maniscalco

If your love is an ocean

Then let your waves crash down on me.

Let the cool ocean breeze set my heart free.

If I had to get it right

I think perhaps I just might.

The way you walk, the way you talk, it’s even the way you kiss

It’s definitely something I can’t live without

And something I would miss

If your love is an ocean

And my heart is a kiss

Let your waves crash down

And fill me with never ending bliss.

How could I start to describe

The ever powerful workings

Of one’s heart

I don’t think I know too much of fate

And I’m definitely not that smart

If your love is the bright blue sea

Wrap your liquid arms tight around me.

Let the waves pull us to and fro.

Too strong to ever let go.

If I could tell you how I felt

I wouldn’t be fumbling along the words

Finding the perfect adjectives and verbs

To describe what I see when I sleep at night

It’s your face above the clouds

a perfect starry light.

If you were the ocean and I was your sun

I’d let your waves crash down on me

Until the morning comes
