Stories of Peace

Stories of Peace

A Poem by Kerri Maniscalco

A great man once sang to me

He told me of stories of peace

And everything man needed to be set free

War is not the way

Spilling blood never did any good

Over time to anyone anyway

He told me stories of good times gone past

Memories of peace and love

And all that man could not grasp

Sitting on my stoop with my pen in hand

Ready to arm myself

Steadying to fight for the words

Of this peaceful man

If all you need is love to get you by

Then for God sakes put away your guns

And spare your mothers from the tears they have cried
