Shall We DanceA Poem by Krista GallantShe longed for the freedom of dance Aligned universe presented a chance Following the trail of music played Frozen at the entrance she swayed Drawn in by the softness of his tone His style and passion scant known Flushed with fever, shied by her glare Her soul stabbed by his hungry stare Their soft and warm love enduring Vows of fidelity proclaimed, assuring Treasures found in all life’s splendour Sharing their journey’s paths together With delicate hands he eases her pain Pulling her in close as the pushes strain He touches her tears to his lips and prays Newly deemed parents of twins this day Watching life pass, children now grown They again find themselves on their own Partaking in all, leaving nothing undone But sitting on the side-lines has now begun Hearing the darkest disturbing news Praying for mercy he hopes comes true Cancer has ripened and won at last The light she lived by is failing fast Silent teardrops fall down her lax face He takes her hand as her heart loses pace “Rest well my love” he whispers so near As her last breath escapes he sheds a tear Gazing beyond the busy streets, he cries Looking to heavens where his dearest flies He utters, “We will be together again soon” Spending eternity dancing amid stars and moon © 2013 Krista Gallant |
