If I Only Knew...

If I Only Knew...

A Poem by Krista Gallant

If I Only Knew...

If I knew it was our last kiss I would have kissed you deeper.

If I knew it was our last hug I would have hugged you harder.

If I knew it was our last time we’d make love, I would have indulged in your philander.

If I knew it was our last caress I would have touched you softer.

If I knew it was our last laugh together I would have giggled even louder.

If I knew it was the last time I saw your smile I would have looked longer.

If I knew it was our last spoken words I would have listened with candor.

If I knew it was the last time I would have smelled your cologne I would indulged in your philter.

If I knew it was the last time I held you in my arms I would have held you stronger.

If I knew it was the last time I felt your touch I would have passionately pulled you closer.

If I knew it was our last walk hand in hand I would have indulged in your affable manner.

If I knew it was the last time you would flirt with me I would have adored the gesture.

If I knew it was the last time you would imprint on my soul I would have opened myself wider.

If I knew it was our last heartfelt moment I would have allowed my heart to grow fonder.

If I knew I was taking us for granted I would have cherished every second together.

If I Only Knew...
