"Isn't it Amazing"

A praise and worship poem

Isn't it amazing what a great God we've got?! 

He answers our prayers whether we deserve it or not.
He leads us to the right chapter and verse 

when we're searching His word because we're scared or hurt.
Like David says, "He leads us to drink 

from cool fresh waters when we're too weary to think.
He puts us in the right situations 

surrounded by His people for our edification.
When He puts us with others we are able to bless, 

the blessing is ours I must confess.
Just to be able to do His work; 

to shine a light where darkness lurks;
To put our lives on the line; 

To bring Him glory, the pleasure is mine.
I lay it all down only for Him.  

I put away all my desires and whims.
I'll carry a cross throughout this life 

to be hated by the world because darkness hates light.
Yet even though I'm not of this world 

He gives me a life so rich and full.
How I ever lived without Him is a mystery to me 

because safe in His arms is where I want to be.

It is amazing that you believe in Him so much. It is really rare nowadays to be find someone who is so devoted to Him.
I don't have much of a belief in religion and would not comment on the subject. It is not that I am an atheist but I still do not wish to follow all the practices blindly. So let's keep it aside.
The writing however, seemed to be smooth. The beginning lines are captivating and hold the reader to the end. the rhyme scheme also seems to be pleasing and I appreciate your work. Do write more and keep sharing your work with us. Good luck. Happy writing. :)

Thanks for the nice review. I didn't always used to believe because I couldn't believe blindly God has a way of proving Himself until I could no longer deny it. That was 19 years ago and He has let Himself be known to me many times since then.

I am writing down my testimony and will publish it soon onto this site but I can give you an example of how God lets me know He is with me. In the Spring 2000, I was in the process of buying a house and preparing to move in but money was so tight, I was afraid I wouldn't even be able to afford the moving van. I decided to pray about my needs. As soon as I began to pray I felt the Lord tell me to sing him a song first. I started sing "Jesus, there's something about that name". After a few minutes, I felt like He said, "Ok. Now ask me what you want". I said, "Well Lord, I know that when I get a little extra money (like an income tax return) I should set it aside for times like this but when I do have a little extra money, I like to lavish my children". Now, I had never used that word "lavish" before although I obviously knew what it meant. It just isn't a word I normally use but when I said "I like to lavish my children", Jesus clearly said, "So do I". Well, it shocked me to hear it so clearly so I shrugged it off and continued with my prayer. Later that day, I was making phonecalls to change my address with various people and businesses. My exhusband hadn't paid child support in years so I quit checking that account through the court system. Since I was moving, something told me to just call and check the account. There was $10,000.00 sitting in that account that I didn't even realize was there because he hadn't paid in years. Then I knew why Jesus wanted me to sing Him a song first. It is because He already answered my prayer before I even prayed and He did lavish me, his child. That was far more than I needed. The Bible also says that God answers our prayers before we even pray them and also that God likes to lavish His children. I didn't know these scriptures until years later. God is not going to say or do anything that is not in His Word but know that He will say and do everything for His children that His Word says He will. We are not all His children. Only those He has called and who have answered that call. Everyone has been called at one time or another but we have the free will to choose. God's Word says, "I give you the choices of Life or death. Choose Life". If He weren't presently calling you, we wouldn't be having this conversation. There are no coincidences.

^^ Yes He is very amazing, I really liked the last two lines, because I often wonder why it took me so long to turn to Him for the love and the guidance that I needed. He blesses those who love Him and even when hard times do come our way, He is there to give us strength and help us overcome! It truly is a blessing and a wonderful feeling to do His work and see so many lives touched. Thank you for sharing!
