You're gonna want me back someday

This is a poem I wrote about my ex husband who made me miserable. He left me for another woman then wanted to come back a few months later. He was shocked when I didn't want him back.

"you're gonna want me back someday"

Those are the last words you'd say

before I hung up the phone

and knew I wasn't coming home. 

 

"Not in  a million years', I thought;

'Not after a million tears were wrought".

But that was years and years ago

and I guess I should have told you so.

I should have also told you this...

I'll want you back when this I miss:

 

WHen I find a lie is what I need

when truth is all  I ever see

I'll definitely want you back

'cause you were really good at that.

 

When I find that trust isn't what it's cracked up to be 

and being cheated on is what I need

You're the first one I'll call

cause you're a cheat who gives his all.

 

When tender touches make me ill

when kind words give me chills

when all I need is an ego check

I'll look you up, what the heck.

 

When my bank account is just too full

and my credit score's 900

and there's more cash than bills to pay

I'll probably miss the good ole' days.

 

Yes, there are times I'll think of you

You never really know

Gore says Hell may just freeze over

when it does, pick up the phone.
