Last Summer

Last Summer

A Poem by kma_mac

Hot pavement
Wet behind the knees
Sweating through too many layers
My eyebrows collecting in the creases of my eyelids
Picnic tables, too warm classrooms
We break out, break free
Sit on the hot pavement
Let flies fly into our ears
Our unwashed hair
Sucking our warmth
Leaving blood to dry on our scalps
And, I want you back
My chest explodes
We walk and walk
I can barely talk
My clothes are heavy
I'm dirty all over again
In the summer, it's hard to stay fresh
