The Home You Built

The Home You Built

A Poem by Cornerstone

The Home You Built

A war room,
A war of time.

A solitude,
Four walls encompass our lives.
The fly knows all who has lived
And lost.

Paint seals our memories,
Now an empty space.

A promise broken,
Trying to pick it up piece by piece.

Darkness covers our sadness,
Shadows claim our fears.

The house you built will be loved.
Your worries lost,
Your strength is unsurpassed,
Pouring love on us.
God created this beautiful life,
rescued your soul.
He set us free,
A war we won.

Bert will not soon, or ever be forgotten.
The thunder rumbles as he goes
A strike of lightning,
Creating Bert's staircase to heaven.
We revel in his joy
But the greatest blessing is that our Savior gets the chance.
