My best isn't enough

Just something I wrote the other night

I'll never be what you expect me to be..

I can only be the best of me..

Is that enough??

Can we be tough??

Enough to put the past behind us..

We lack a little trust..

It's going to take time to build that back up..

I'm writing this with Gin in my cup..

Working on my fifth with smoke all in my lungs..

My stomach feels sick, only because..

I got you on my mind..

I'm wondering why you aren't mine..

If it looks like i'm crying, it's just that my eyes are burning..

Girl my heart is hurting..

Because I can't be what you want me to be..

I can only be the best I can be..

Unfortunately, it's just not enough..

And now I see..

That there may never again be a you & me...
