Say goodbye

After years of trying to make it work, it's time to say goodbye..

Please don't cry, wipe those tears from your eyes..

Place your hand on my chest, you can feel my heart is breaking as well..

Our relationship feels like we're teetering on the boundaries of hell..

You've always felt like I had someone on the side & that is beyond true..

I don't know why you would think that when I've done nothing but love you..

I haven't been perfect but I've been trying hard..

To be the man you deserve but it just never seems to be enough..

I wish this didn't have to happen but why go on pretending..

To be happy when all we do is consistently fight..

From morning rise to the midnight skies..

We're always going to be like this & I can no longer be a part of this..

So please, don't cry..

If you do then i'll cry..

And it'll make it that much harder to say goodbye...

Goodbyes are always so hard. You're left mourning the loss of someone who hasn't even died, and you're forcing yourself to reconcile the fact they're out of your life and they might as well have passed.

Good poetry invokes thought and emotion. I commend you for doing both so eloquently.
