My Promise

Inspired by tonight

I know it hurts you
When I don't love in a romantic way
When I forget the depths of our souls
And the beauty of our love

I know I'm hurting us
When I expect greatness
When I put nothing in and want everything out
And I won't insult our bond with excuses

I don't know why I am the way I am
You're more perfect than anything I could imagine
You're a warm glow and my favourite place
Your love is the truest love I've ever known

All I know is that
I can imagine my life without you
It's familiar and agonizing
And I won't let us go back there

You're a new concept
You're comfort

All I know is that
I can't keep treading water
life is real and there are consequences
And I won't let your heart break

I don't know why you are the way you are
I'm completely fascinated with your mind
I thought I had you figured out
And that's when everything stopped

I know we'll forget this
And leave it in the dust
Because I'll never figure you out
You're an evolving masterpiece

Exploring your soul is my full time job
I'll soak up every ounce of your expanding essence
That's my promise
