With a side of grass

We're giant a******s to ourselves
Every time we sigh and say
'the grass is greener on the other side "

We might as well say
'my dreams are too big and scary, so I'll ignore them'

I've accepted that there will always be shades of green
That catch my eye

I'll change my world in a second if I please

Life is about changing and adapting
I want to learn everything there is
About the things that fill my heart

And I won't apologize for being driven by my desire

Being absorbed with what I love
Will encourage growth
and continually fill my life with joy

And I don't give a damn
If my joy looks like the grass on the other side

Oops, submitted too soon.. my one suggestion of change is the title. Its a good and intriguing title, but i think you can find one better suited to the piece. Other than that, its wonderful. I look fkrward to reading more of your work.

I love this piece. Its well thought out and with correct structure and punctuation to present it in the best light. I also enjoy that your voice really comes through in this. I dont know you, but this piece tells me that you are confident, sure of yourself, sassy, and independent. All admirable qualities. Its a wonder what one poem can tell you about a person, eh?

As for the grass being greener, there is a quote that flows with it.. but most seem to forget it. "The grass is greenest where you water it". In other words, take care to...take care. We are only as successful as we let ourselves be, and thats what makes being human, easy. Our lives are so much easier than we let them be, seeing as how the biggest struggle is, and always will be, our perspective.

Example- ugh god i have to go to work for the next eight hours.

Or... you could be positive- hey, i get to go chat with my coworkers or customers or be productive and make some money! Its nice to have a job!

Everything in life is based on perspective. Wash your eyes if everything seems dirty, unappealing, and gross. Let the light in.
