Love Blood

Love Blood

A Poem by klawrites

The first time I saw you
I was drugged
Love rushed through my body
And my eyes opened up

I knew life would change
and that night has stayed
In my blood
like a high exchange

It was my favorite thing
Years in a happy haze
I'll never stop counting the ways
It put a smile on my face

The drug began to fade
There was nothing I could do
Except scream into the sky
And crave that forgotten high

The supply grew
I should have been happy
I should have soaked it up
Instead
I f*****g flew
Far, far away

I was faded
And craved the highest skies
told myself all these lies
Addicted to saying goodbye

I should have known
That out of all the rushes
My blood
Only craves
Your love

Love is an addictive drug and when it is in vain it can be quite the rush until you crash. Great poem.

The overall rhythm is fine, though I think the 5th and last stanzas could be made to rhyme better.
Thank you for sharing :)
