UntitledA Poem by Electric Green Earth ChildThe follow up of 3 days of drunken shannigans while following my favorite band around the state and attending my Great Grandmother's funeral at the end of the escapde. She rocked the Earth for 102 years.
Today my head aches
It’s like the palette of the beating hammer striking stone
I feel distant, like how clouds separate during a summer storm
Allowing the sun to finally break through opaque dreams
I was standing at a funeral earlier today
102 years old she was
I knew her my whole life
But I also feel like a complete stranger
Standing there
Introverted
Hungover
I like to wonder about the woman who lived 102 years
Every smile
Every tear
Every lover
…What happens when we pass?
But I’m not the only stranger here today
We are all strangers
All wanderers
Driven by some need
Brought together from one single seed
Today my head aches.
I think I’ll pour myself some more whiskey
Into the faded glassware
Nervously held
By my shaky nicotine ridden hand.
