Jalopy

Jalopy

A Story by Karl Klemm
"

A short little musing about people that drive a car around.

"

Mel traveled to California to be with the love of her life, but she left behind a little green jalopy. Now the community, in remembrance, takes turns driving the car around town like a parading vigil. I’ve never driven or even been a passenger, but from time to time I see the little green jalopy in traffic and I think to myself, that’s Mel’s car. Then I think, no it isn’t. Not really. Not anymore.
