Abnormal

Abnormal

A Story by KJVollaro
"

Some very normal things touch us in ways we didn't realize at the time

"

A man travels home from work, plodding along the same interstate he always does.  He's thinking the same thoughts he always does.  He listens to the same cd he always does.  He's a bit drained, mentally, as he always is.  The traffic is moderate, as it always is.  He passes some cars, and some cars pass him, as it always is.

He clicks on his blinker as he sometimes does.  He slides over to the leftmost lane as he sometimes does.  His eyes follow the scrapes and streaks on the barriers as they sometimes do.  His legs ache a little as they sometimes do.

He had never noticed a tiny shoe in the breakdown lane.  He had never noticed a soiled and torn dress draped across the barrier.  He had never noticed a naked and broken doll lying half in the travel lane.

He parks his car in the spot by the tree like he always does.  He unlocks his door and goes in like he always does.  He pours himself a drink like he always does.

As he sips his drink, he knows that somewhere, a little girl is crying.  He just wonders how hard.

The piece is very abnormal in its self. The repetition is catchy. Really liked the way you composed this piece, its very unique! Nice job.
