What could make a man take the stand
Take the bible in hand
Lie through his teeth
To get the justice he seeks

He feels no remorse
It’s his plight, His course
To put a man in jail
To hear him scream, to hear him wail.

Like when he was abused
with the defendant amused.
His body was battered
His mind left in tatters

What could make a man take the stand
Take the bible in hand
Lie through his teeth
To get the justice he seeks

We saw it on the news
What right does he have to abuse
He would cry in his bed
He wished he was dead.

He would close his eyes

And beg for a reprise
Please god no more
His heart would not thaw

Every night he would pray
God would leave him in dismay
