Dawn Breaks

Dawn Breaks

A Poem by Everything Happens For A Reason

Like a tree in the winter, I falter.
My branches are bare, leaves strewn
I shake in the wind, I radiate gloom
Like a robin in the road, I slow.
Danger a best friend, panic a rival
For my attention, in the land of giants and survival.

When the dawn breaks and the sun streams through my single pane of glass
I look outside and wonder if you're awake
Or perhaps your eyes are still crinkled at the sides, and you're sprawled out across your bed
Laying on your back dreaming of days gone past.
If you were dreaming next to me I know
Everything would be amazing.

You see I'm a star, honestly.
I just haven't been turned on for a while.
It won't be long before you see me shine,
I know how you miss my smile.
Believe me, I'm gonna be someone,
I've just lost sight of what's worthwhile.

I just need to curl up in your arms for a couple hours
And let you massage out my fears.
I just want to press myself into your embrase for a couple days
And let you kiss every inch of my face.
I just know that I love you and you're the only thing that makes sense
Baby you say you'll stay, you say you'll stay
But somehow you always go.
