Memories

Memories

A Poem by Bellarina

My memories of you

Drift away.

In the back of my mind

Is where they shall remain.

The thoughts

They only haunt me.

They hurt my soul

And worry my mind.

The freedom I feel

Is when you're not around.

The memories sometimes

Ease the hurt inside of me.

They whisper to me

Like a soft spoken wind.

Pulling me back

To the world's end.

I try to fight back

Not wanting to feel.

The memories will always

Conquer my mind.

They will torture me

Trying to pull me down.

Showing their rage

Leaving me battered and bound.

They remind me

That I should never fall.

Always stay focused

No matter the pain I endure.

The memories shadow

Over me often.

Not letting me see

The truth inside of thee.

I try to fight

To let them drift away.

Yet they force me back

Once again.

The memories of you

Will always remind me.

This life is just pain

Torture, a brawl.

Nothing but demise

A lie.

The memories will

Eventually fade away.

When they do

I'll be able to recognize the light of day.
