Cloud Watching

Cloud Watching

A Poem by The Devil's Own B***h

Laying out in a field of grass

Just staring up at the sky,

I watch as the sun shines bright

And as the clouds drift on by.

I watch as the clouds

Start to take on shapes and form,

Watch as in the distance

Thunder rumbles – it’s an oncoming storm.

But until the sky darkens here

I’ll lay and watch the clouds drift on by.

I’ll lay here and watch

As they drift across the sky.

Hey, look,

That one looks just like a heart!

Ah, but it’s broken.

Do you see it’s been torn apart?

I watch as that broken heart

Begins to transform into something new,

Watching as it changes,

Starting to feel a little blue.

How could it be so easy

For that broken heart to mend?

Why is it not that simple for me?

Why do I continue to stretch and bend?

I start to feel the raindrops

Trickling down my face.

I look up but of the storm clouds

There is no trace.

What I thought were raindrops

Tracing down my cheeks

Ends up being teardrops.

God, I feel so weak.

I look up to the sky once more

Hoping to see a glimpse of the truth

Hoping to see

Just the tiniest bit of proof;

That you had ever

Felt anything for me;

The proof that just maybe

You and I can be.

But the sky clouds over completely –

The storm is here.

I was looking for a sign from above

And I guess the answer is clear.

But still I long for you;

Long for your touch.

Still I ache to wrap my arms around you.

I miss you so damn much.

But the clouds have spoken,

So I guess I should abide;

I guess I’ll just have to walk away

With no one at my side…

its just so beautiful...an innocent beginning leading to a subtle sad end...a perfect write...simple...sweet...cute...makes you smile...but leaves you thinking at the same time..."So I guess I should abide; I guess I'll just have to walk away, With no one at my side"
these lines just so touching...
striking a chord...
great work...
keep it up!

I enjoyed this. Its got a nice flow and cadence, but the images are what made it so good. The clouds breaking apart and changing were really wonderful and the feelings were great.
