"Come on In"

"Come on In"

A Poem by The Devil's Own B***h

It was snowing outside,

Flakes of puffy white

Floating to the ground.

It was cold out there –

No shelter,

No warmth.

I wandered from place to place,

But “no room” was

The only answer I got.

Until I reached the end of the road.

There was a door,

Painted raven black.

It opened before I even knocked.

“Come on in,”

A voice inside said.

The darkness beyond the open door

Was heavy,

So daunting,

But I was too cold to protest.

Immediately the darkness

Began to consume me.

It dug its roots

Deep into trenches of my soul.

Suddenly I was so hot

I felt like I was burning,

Scorched by flames.

I knew then

That this would be the place

I would forever be destined to be –

This darkness,

Was to become my home…
