How do you stop the rain from falling

When that is all it knows to do?

How to you stop a bird from flying

When all its life that’s what it’s done?

How do you stop a child from smiling

When her innocence is all she has?

How do you stop a broken heart from hurting

When pain is all it knows?

How do you stop a soul from trying

When getting back up and trying again is all it’s ever done?

How do you stop my eyes from shining

When they look upon your face?

How do you stop my tears from falling

When you look at me and smile?

How do you stop my heart from beating

When your lips touch mine?

You can’t stop nature from taking its course

Because Life and Love will never give up…
