I was in love with you

I kill myself in small amounts

With each relationship

That’s not about Love.

I no longer blame you

Or your ‘gentleman’s charm’,

Not even those bright,

Sexy,

Playful,

Captivating blue eyes.

No, you have no hold on me!

But then why does my heart

Skip a beat when you look at me?

Why do the butterflies in my stomach

Flutter about each time you smile?

Why do I feel I still need you

After you hurt me so much?

How do you manage

To break down this barrier

I have built to protect myself?

You kill me in small amounts

Because I know this relationship

Is not about Love.

This is just another funeral

And I am just another girl,

Left drowning in my tears…
