Becoming Mother

Becoming Mother

A Poem by Kimber Gillingham

A poem about that special moment when I met my son.

Becoming Mother

I had no idea what to expect

only word to describe him, is perfect

I carried him for a long forty weeks

Now it was time to see his precious cheeks

Finally, labor begun

It was time to meet my son

I started to push with the doctor’s permission

I made getting him out my ultimate mission

Suddenly I heard a sound I have never heard before

Without thought tears began to pour

He started to really cry

All I could think was “that is my little guy”

They gently placed him on my chest

That very moment I was obsessed

I wanted to hold him and never let go

He made the entire room glow

I was completely and utterly in love

Feelings I will never get rid of

I now have a second name

My son will be sure to one day proclaim

I will now and forever be mother

I will love my son like no other

Mother's love.....never really felt it. I am pretty sure the way you expressed your love for your son is how every mother feels. Heart warming write.
